    Pothos is one of the most popular houseplants. Being versatile in nature it also acts as a great air purifying houseplant. Pothos originated from the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. 

    This belongs to the family Araceae, scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum. Pothos are also known as Money plants and are believed to bring good luck, wealth and prosperity according to Feng Shui. 

    If your gardening journey has just started then this plants are a great option to start with. These plants are easy to care for and don’t require much of your attention.

    A good amount of light and a moist pot will work great for these plants to grow beautifully either cascading downwards from your hanging baskets or their vines trailing on walls.

    Golden Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum. This variety is among the most popular plants and has golden to yellow leaves and hence the name.

    They grow best in humid tropical climates and can grow upto 5-12 feet. The leaves are heart shaped. Devil’s Ivy is another name of this pothos variety and is easiest to grow. 

    Neon Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Neon’ . If you are someone who likes a bit different shades of colors then this variety will be your absolute favourite.

    They have beautiful heart shaped lemon yellow colored leaves that are even brighter when they are young. They grow upto a height of 2-6 feet.

    Global Green Pothos

    These are an absolute new variety that are introduced in the United states. It has beautifully textured, intertwined green leaves with flecks of light and dark green on top. 

    Satin/Silver Pothos

    These belong to different genus, scientifically these are known as Scindapsus pictus. They grow upto a height of 2-6 feet. The leaves are heart shaped and have dark green color. 

    Silver flecks appear on the dark green leaves. For best results keep it in bright sunlight to get dark silver flecks. These are relatively smaller than other varieties.  

    Pearls and Jade Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Pearls and Jade’.

    These are a patented variety produced by University of Florida. 

    They possess beautiful silver gray and white variegated leaves more specifically at the edges. The leaves are smaller than other varieties. 

    Jessenia Pothos

    This is scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Jessenia’. This variety is somewhat similar to Marble queen. It is difficult to recognize between the two leaves.

    It grows upto a height of 3-8 feet and grows slowly. These are less prominent variegated as compared to other varieties. They have a beautiful lime green variegation.

    Marble Queen Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’. These are extremely variegated with green leaves and white streaks.

    It can grow upto a height of 1-2 feet. High variegation leads to slow growth. So, it is important to keep your plant in bright sunlight as a darker environment will lead to poor growth. 

    Manjula Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Manjula’. These are also patented varieties by the University of Florida. 

    Unlike other varieties, these have curly edges. They come in various colors with silver shades, white, cream, and light green or yellowish green variegated leaves. 

    Cebu Blue Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Cebu Blue’. These are a bit different from other varieties of pothos.

    They have a beautiful metallic sheen on leaves that are pointed like an arrow in shape. The leaves do not have any variegation and are large blue-green colored. It can grow upto a height of 4-8 feet

    Snow Queen Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Snow Queen’. These are almost similar to the Marble Queen variety.

    But the only difference is that Snow Queen has more prominent white variegation in leaves as the name suggests. It has slower growth due to low Chlorophyll content. 

    Harlequin Pothos

    These are scientifically known as Epipremnum aureum ‘Harlequin’. These pothos are the rarest variety that you can get.

    This variety is basically a mix of Snow and Marble Queen and has curly edges just like Manjula variety. Harlequin have more prominent variegation on leaves.
